Role Overview:

You'll find motivation daily from the donors you meet. A strong dedication to customer service and quality is essential. Your responsibilities will include assessing donor eligibility, managing adverse donor reactions, reviewing lab results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. As a Medical Support Specialist (Center Nurse), you'll operate under the Center Manager's (or Assistant Manager's) guidance for operational matters and the Center Physician's direction for medical issues. You will be knowledgeable about the regulations of the collection industry or a manufacturing setting and adhere to guidance from Medical Affairs, providing support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) at the center level.

Contributions:

  • Assess donor eligibility through informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, acceptance criteria, physical exams, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).

  • Evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs and handle medical emergencies according to SOPs, including implementing the Center Physician's standing orders and arranging donor transport to emergency facilities.

  • Consult the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility.

  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as required.

  • Manage employee incidents, determine if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is needed, and follow EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.

  • Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist in investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized nursing program meeting state requirements.

  • Current licensure or certification in the assigned state: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).

  • Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.

  • Completion of state requirements for basic IV therapy (if applicable).

  • Successful completion of FDA-approved training for Medical Support Specialist.

  • At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Pay Details: $26.00 to $32.00 per hour
