Staff Accountant Position

We are currently seeking a skilled individual to join our client's team as a Staff Accountant in their Meriden, CT office. This role will work closely with the Finance Director and is a full-time position, operating Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct precise general ledger accounting and financial reporting.

  • Reconcile bank accounts with the general ledger on a weekly and month-end basis.

  • Support the preparation of month-end financial statements, forecasts, and annual budgets.

  • Maintain accurate records for fixed assets and depreciation.

  • Perform necessary analysis for the month-end closing process.

  • Assist with the preparation of annual audits and tax returns.

  • File monthly sales and use tax returns.

  • Prepare property tax returns.

  • Participate in closing activities.

  • Prepare journal entries for accounts.

  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, analyze variances.

  • Investigate and resolve outstanding items.

  • Handle AR collections for overdue accounts.

  • Take on various projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a staff accounting role with general ledger responsibilities.

  • High proficiency in Excel.

  • Strong team player, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues; approachable, helpful, and cooperative.

Salary: Up to 80K
